Cinnabon - Calorie Bomb
For more than ten years in a row, American nutritionists have unanimously recognized Cinnabon cinnamon rolls as the most harmful fast food in the country (1) . One serving of this dessert contains almost 1000 kcal, 50 g of fat (equivalent to 10 chicken eggs fat) and 150 g of carbohydrates, half of which is pure refined sugar (the amount is equal to 15 teaspoons). This amount of fat is extremely harmful with high cholesterol .
With one serving of such a dessert, you consume almost half the daily calorie intake, most of which is a dummy, since Cinnabon practically does not contain vitamins, minerals and other useful nutrients. In addition, we note the huge content in such rolls of salt (1100-1300 mg, 60-80% of the daily norm) and cholesterol (50-70 mg, 40% of the daily norm).
What is Cinnabon: A Brief History
Cinnabon is the world-famous fast-food chain of bakery cafes, best known for its signature dish - cinnamon rolls of the same name (even the name “cinnabon” directly refers to the word “cinnamon” - cinnamon). The company prides itself on exclusively natural ingredients when baking their desserts.
Today Cinnabon is more than 1200 cafes in 48 different countries of the world. In Russia, mini-bakeries of the company operate in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and other large cities. The first Cinnabon cafe was opened in 1985 in Seattle (USA), but the cinnamon roll recipe itself appeared much earlier.
Vienna Cinnamon Roll
Denmark and Sweden are considered to be the birthplace of cinnamon rolls - it was in these countries at the beginning of the 18th century that the traditional Viennese baking recipe was changed, adding cinnamon to its composition. In Sweden, this sweet treat has taken root so much that starting from October 4, 1999, the country annually celebrates Cinnamon Rolls Day, and the average Swede eats 316 such rolls a year (2) .
Due to the popularity of traditional Cinnamon buns, Cinnabon coffee shops are not operating in Europe - here this brand is known exclusively to residents of Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Greece and Poland. Note that the main difference between an ordinary cinnamon roll and cinnabon is a significantly increased size - and, accordingly, calorie content.
Cinnabon recipe - how to bake it?
In fact, the various variations of Cinnabon differ only in the topping (the way each dessert is watered), while the bun itself is always baked the same. Depending on whether caramel is used or not, calorie content also changes. The main ingredients of such a bun are always refined sugar , white baking flour, butter and a little cinnamon.
At the same time, baking the bun for Sinabon itself is quite simple - first, take the sweet dough, then it rolls to a thickness of 0.5-0.7 cm, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and rolled into rolls for oil soaking. After that, the workpiece is cut into portions and baked in the oven for about 30 minutes at 170 degrees Celsius. At the end, the bun can be poured with syrup.
How many calories are in Cinnabon?
The information on the company's website suggests that the classic Cinnabon is 880 calories, 37 g of fat (20 g of which are saturated animal fats ), 127 g of carbohydrates (58 of which are pure sugar), 13 g of protein and 2 g of fiber (3) . The average weight of such a Cinnabon is 268 g - about 3-4 times more than the weight of a traditional European cinnamon roll.
However, this is not the limit of an overwhelming calorie content. Caramel Pecanbon contains 1080 calories, 50 g fat, 147 g carbohydrates (of which 76 g is sugar), 14 g protein and 3 g fiber for each, let’s not hide this, an extremely satisfying portion. In fact, the calorie content in this treat is similar to the two large big macs from McDonald's .
Want to get fat fast?
Mathematical calculation suggests that if the whole thousand calories from Cinnabon are deposited in fat, you will receive a one-time increase in 120 g of fat. If you eat one such cinnamon roll daily, you will gain about 40-50 kg of excess weight per year. Actual numbers will vary slightly, but their order will not change at all.
To burn calories from one Cinnabon, you will need to run at a speed of 10 km / h for at least one and a half hours, or swim at a fast pace for about two hours. If for burning calories you decide to just walk, then you will need to walk about 4 hours at a speed of 5 km / h. In other words, if you are at least somehow thinking about your figure, it is better not to touch Cinnabon.
The problem of empty calories
The main problem with Cinnabon’s empty calories is that the body will not be able to use them in any other way than for storing fat in the stomach . A huge dose of sugar will first cause a sharp rise in blood glucose - but after the body gets rid of this glucose by synthesis of insulin, there will be a breakdown, a characteristic lethargy and even hunger.
Among other things, a high content of animal fats and cholesterol will contribute to the disruption of metabolism - in fact, in fact, one Cinnabon bun contains a third of a bar of butter. The calories of this oil will go to fat reserves, and cholesterol will be deposited on the walls of blood vessels, provoking the development of various cardiovascular diseases.
Cinnabon, without a doubt, is considered the most harmful fast food, since each cinnamon roll contains about 1000 kcal - or half the daily calorie intake. Having eaten even one portion of such a dessert, you instantly start the mechanisms of deposition of pure fat, and also create a serious discord in the processes of metabolism of nutrients in the body.
